Learning the different tones

I have an Explorer XS with the X-1 Probe. I have had the explorer out a couple of times and I think I need to do some air testing to better learn the tones. My question is; can I use the probe for the air testing, and if so, what should my machine settings be? Thanks Tony

you can use the probe, the tones will be the same.. if your doing it inside use auto sens set down lower to around 10 and stay away from computers TV etc.. make sure you up your variability to max to distinguish tones the easiest...the main thing to remember is trash will generally give you a different or unstable tones, while good targets will read with a fairly solid single tone.. always exceptions but for the most part it will hold true at least in normal audio/fast response
