Hey All.I picked up a used time ranger off craigslist.I have wanted one of these for awhile. I hunt mostly in the surf, but wanted another land machine. I have been swinging and bench testing this for two days. I like this machine so far,It's very easy to use considering it has so many features. I have been really paying attention to the lower scale ID numbers, trying to see where the foil starts/ends,typical dug nickles start/end,and where all of those tabs we love to dig start/end,and how it all relates to gold. The zinc cents and high coins take care of themselves. I have been hunting soccer fields, with high coins turned off trying to get some gold.I will dig zinc cents, untill I get burned out on them.I know some mens wedding bands will read zinc cent.No luck yet. I did notice that accepting foi,l makes the nickle signals hit harder and sound better. This machine is amazing with the 4" coil,I dug so much clad without the need for "pinpointing",that my back is killing me!(one was a 1917 wheatie) I am still trying to get the hang of accurately pinpointing with the 8" coil. It's nice that the depth meter also works in pinpoint mode. I am also working on "detuning" my targets in pinpoint mode with the 8" coil, so my holes are smaller. I also bought the bounty hunter gear bag,and the machine with all of my assorted "crap" fits just fine. It's nice to have a machine always with you,in case you spy a good digging spot. I'll keep you posted if I hit any Gold, good luck and happy hunting to all.
