Learned Something Today

Well, I learned something today ...

Took the GTI2500 to Jacksonville Beach today. Got there just after low tide. After the weekend, beautiful weather, great day for detecting.

As I parked the car, I saw a guy getting out of another car. He was wearing a Garrett AT cap on his head. Well, I figured, he got here first so I'll let him have this part of the beach and I'll head to another spot. He opened the trunk of his car, and I thought he was probably going to take out his AT Pro or other detector. Nope, he took out a fishing rod and reel and headed for the beach.

I started detecting. After two hours, I came up with nothing. I mean, nothing -- not even a pull tab or bottle cap. Yes, the GTI2500 is working perfectly, no problem there.

Now I know why ... the city has refilled the beach with new sand, dredging it up from farther offshore.

The guy with the Garrett AT cap knew the beach a lot better than I did -- he went fishing instead.

No sweat ... I left the beach, went to a park and came up with some clad and a 1946 Wheat cent.

Got a Wheat cent and got educated too. Gotta call it a pretty good day.

You live and learn and glad you went to the park. I got so frustrated Saturday I almost put my detecting gear in the classified section, but have mellowed out today and trying for the 3rd week in a row to hit a swim hole about 50 miles away this Thursday.
