lead weights

Found this small, lead weight near an old, downtown school building.

Dimensions: 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/8+"
Weight: 7.07 grams

Marking stamped on face: 1/4 OZ 7GM

There were (3) of them in a row on a fabric backing. Have found others similarly fastened together.

Any idea what they were used for?

Probably adhesive backed sheave balance weights for a fan.
