Lead toy soldier

Thanks for telling me how to upload pictures! Anyway I found this lead soldier last night in my yard with my 1266x. I got the fisher headphones yesterday and thought I'd try them out and glad I did. I had the koss accusound and the fisher ones made signals twice as loud. I highly recommend them. Soldier was about 10 in. deep and sounded like it was laying on top. I also found more wheats and clad coins. My house was built around turn of century and I'v been hunting it for the past 15 years. Its hard to believe I missed them! Thats proves a site is never hunted out. I just thought I would share this story with everyone. I think the soldier is pretty cool !

Very nice shape! The couple of lead figures I have found have had almost no paint left on them and have had the extremities bent, crushed or missing.

Soldier looks like absolute NEW condition. Like TVR mentioned, they too come out of the ground here in horrible condition.

The interesting thing about your pic is that it reminds me of making these soldiers when I was a kid and playing with hot molten smoking lead which wasnt considered UNSAFE at the time. We would breathe the smoke as we made these toys in our enclosed rooms. We would have lead dust on our hands as we sanded em smooth too. I am sure we had to get this stuff in our lungs. This could explain a lot of the problems baby boomers are and will be experiencing in the future.

Thanks for posting

It is in amazingly good condition. THe child who was playing with it must have just gotten it. My dad rents the other side of my house (cheap of course) and he was washing dishes at the time so I took it in to him and he acted like a 10 year old, put in the sink with the dishes and started cleaning it,even went and got a toothbrush. He was a detectorist himself. So he knows what its like. Its neat to hear about someone who used to make them! I will be displaying this one.

That is a great find!!!, I used to have a few of them when I was young. Thanks for sharing !!!

I like finding those lead soldiers, too. I have found a few over the year's, but never any in that fine of condition. Nice find!!! HH jim tn
