It says "MONOTYPE" on one side. On the other there is a imprint of a person standing with a shield(possibly a drum) and possibly a flag. It really doesn't matter what the inprint is so much. Anyone know what this thing is?
The picture does no justice, I am still scrubing on it, may be able to get a better picture soon.

It looks like one of those gold plated bricks charms that we sported during the disco days, except that the brick use to say 14k Gold and Facsimile or Copy. I found one a few years back.

It maybe a printing plate. Monotype implies printing size may be for newspaper clasified or add. I havee found copper plates in photograhic quality but yours looks like a handcarved one.

Lead would be easy to melt and recast for the next paper.
