Lead, Brass and Big Silver Surfaces

My buddy Dave & I ventured out today in the snow and cold to our favorite colonial/civil war site in Virginia. Although cold and snowy, and dodging falling trees and limbs from the weight of the first snow, we did manage to save a bit of history and some silver too.

I finished the day with 10 bullets:

3 fired enfilelds, 1 dropped williams cleaner, 2 /.52 spencer bullets with bit of casing attached, 3 fired .58s, and 1 jacket button button back. But the real surpise and a first for me was digging my first barber half dollar- a 1908 O in very good condition, that I first thought was foil or tin.

great finds..WOW I am beside myself, keep digging:clap: What was the tid on that barber?? what machine you running??....hh rick in mi.

Way to go. Ive gotten two barber halves.- they really blow the phones right off your head! On my 75ltd they would hit like solid 92-94 with all bars lit up. One I was hitting on the year before at a site and ignoring for I thought it was a crushed beer can close to the surface, it was such a strong signal. Im glad I finally decided to dig it. CO

Some really nice bullets and a big silver over 100 years old. Pretty grand hunt I would say. So I'll say it. "Pretty grand hunt." HH jim tn

I'm using my new Fisher/First Texas F-75 LTD, it really sniffs out the high coin and button signals...

Me too, on my F-75 LTD, I was gettin a 92-95 lock sweet hight reapetable that I knew was either a button or a coin. I was actually thinking another large cent as I have already dug one holed 1848 LC just last month, and this homestesd dates to the revolutionary war period. Never was I expecting to dig my first barber half...
