laws in Japan

I just moved to Japan. I am an amateur at metal detecting. I can't find anything about the laws or regulations on metal detecting in Japan. If anyone knows of a web site or anything please let me know. I don't want to end up in jail. or my metal detector confiscated.

I would run down to the US Embassy and ask them to find out.

Make a couple Japanese friends and have them go with you detecting. (That way you have someone to speak for you) Worked for me in Korea.

i know of a couple of people who live in japan. not sure where though...they have lived there for many years....whats it like there? i have always wanted to learn thier language.
