:laugh:Is it just me, or do you love spending nasty dug up coins at fast food places too?

Of course I keep my good finds, but there is just some thrill that I get giving the kid at the counter or McDonalds a handful of modern coins that I found. Some of these people have trouble counting the coins, let alone if they aren't sure what they are! Is it a dime, is it a penny, what the heck happened to these coins, some of them still have mud and corrosion on them ... LOL. I don't know, maybe it's just me :- )

I never spend a coin unless it has been cleaned to the best of my ability, including when necessary rubbing each one on a plastic scouring pad to get rid of any remaining corrosion. Many of the coins we find will eventually end up going through a bank coin sorting machine where the uncleaned coins, if rejected won't be returned to the public. Someone has to bite the bullet on the cost of those rejected coins even if it is just the U.S. Mint.

I usually save them until the end of the year and then cash them in and get a coil or some other detecting gadget.
