Well, I have a few finds with my V3i that I keep meaning to post, but haven't. Unfortunately, I have not found any more silver, but I found a 10k Sweetheart ring on 2/16/14 and then on 3/1/14, Blind Squirrel and I went to an old oil camp and basically were about skunked. I think we each found a memorial penny, a nickel and a marble. We were pretty frustrated, so Blind Squirrel suggested we stop by a school sand/chip box before we got home. We decided that we needed to find a couple of quarters to just make our day seem worthwhile. We each found some clad and then I got a 5-7 VDI hit and pulled out a gold colored cross. I did not have my reading glasses with me so I just showed Blind Squirrel and then dropped it in my treasure bag. When I got home and was taking the "treasures" out of the bag, I put my reading glasses on and the cross had 14K on the clasp. I thought it was a junker!! Then the next weekend, I went to a couple of school sand boxes and in one of them, I got another 5-7 VDI reading and pulled out this tiny baby gold colored ring with a red stone. This time, I had a magnifying glass, but could not find any markings. The next day, Explorer and I went to a city park and was checking out the sand boxes, Explorer found a ring and a bunch of clad, while I found a few clad (he always thrashes me). Then I got yet another 8 or so VDI and pulled out a school class ring. It was silver looking, so I did not think it was gold, but it did not hit in the silver VDI range, so I thought junk. It too, did not have any markings on the inside of the band. Well, I had a gold, silver, platinum kit ordered and when it came in the next few days, the first thing I did was to check the class ring, I rubbed it on the stone and first tested with 10K and it did not dissolve, then the 14k acid and it stayed, I tried the 18K, but it ate it right up...so it was 14K white gold. Then I tested the baby ring and it too was 14k!
So I found gold on 2/16, 3/1, 3/8 and 3/9. I wish I could find silver coins like this.
