Last week at the beach again with my GT.

Last weeks beach finds. YES I got tons of tabs trash and deep clad. The ring is a 1968 HS ring, The butterfly is silver but real black. And then a gold clasp from a bracelet. By the green on the gold they have been there a long time.
Once again for the 1000X The Sovereign GT proves it's awesomeness.!

Great finds !! more to come all season Jim

Wow, all nice targets. Those class rings are great finds. Any name inside?

Great finds! That ring looks similar to one I got in the water less summer...

Rings like that tend to float around at shallower depths in the sand due to the large surface area compared to their weight. If I remember right I dug a bunch of "fluff" like foil and can shards before popping that puppy. As a matter of fact it was rolling in the water right where it meets the dry sand I suspect. Unfortunately, after searching the web these types of rings are fairly cheap, despite the amount of work I thought might have gone into making it with all the wire framing solder work. Mine was just worth it's silver weight for the most part, unless I found somebody who fancies butterflies to sell it to above scrap value.

Wow! The one I found was rolling in the wash on the wet sand as well.

Jason are you saying you love the GT lol? Great finds at the beach for sure. Which coil do you mainly use at the beach? Hopefully I can add some jewelry to the collection this year. Thanks for posting - Jim

I use the S.E.F 12x10 at the beach.
I find that it is more stable at higher manual sensitivity and that the tight pattern combined with the search width is awesome.

So you really like the 12x10? I have read so many reviews good / bad I am sitting on the fence wondering which way to jump off. Thanks for your thoughts and review on the coil. - Jim

Jim at first I scoffed at the S.E.F hype. But the more recent past couple year versions as I was told are improved.
I am confident in saying that it is the best coil I have used for any machine. I love it!
Everything Critter and others have said are 100% true from my hands on time with it.

Even if you ignore my fan boy love for the 12x10, if you search this forum and the FBS forums you're going to find the vast majority of people who have used one find it to be the best coil they ever used in all respects. There are certain models of machines (non-Minelabs) that don't seem to get along too well with the SEF coils, one of those brands being known to be rather fussy about it's coils and with very tight speficications that if they aren't done just right lead to stability problems, off center pin pointing, and so on. But on the Minelabs they seem very rock solid coils with high dependability and no issues at all for most people.

Early on the SEFs have shorter coil cables, but as far as problems with earlier SEFs I never really heard of any, other than one or two people saying they nulled on them when doing air tests on a larger silver coin like a half dollar or so. I have never seen that, nor read of it elsewhere for the most part. Maybe a bad coil or two out there, as there is with any coils, but as a whole I'd say they are a very reliable product far as I ever heard.

Jason...I do a lot of Beach hunting like you do.I'm near Toronto,Canada and we have lots of fresh water beaches here.I have 4 coils for my GT but use only 2..I mainly use the 15" CoilTek (WOT)...I sometimes throw on the CoilTek Joey in different places i hunt..I also have a 10"Tornado & a 12.5" Excelerator EQ Pro..The Depth with the 15" CoilTek is Crazy.!..If you don't like digging Deep don't buy one. They are a heavy coil but if my arm-shoulder get tired i mount the box on my belt plus i have a Bungee i can use so its as light as a Tesoro machine. You can buy a used one here sometimes or on e Bay.They are sold fast and about $150-$175 used..If you get the chance to borrow one do it.Pro's like Clive Clynick that have written several books swear by the 15" WOT coil..There's some short movies on YouTube also that will show you how deep they will go...
