Last Wednesday's Hunt

Got out last week I think only once. So hot and dry and then the rain came afterwards.
I obtained permission to hunt a local fair grounds that was not so far of a drive, and decided to
head down. Hunted for about an hour an was pulling up quarters fairly consistently, but I just did not
like the "feel" of the place. It did not have that old smell. The grass I didn't like. Might sound crazy to you guys, but
I just could not get in "The Zone". Also, the sight of rock hard mud in the grass-free areas also did not appeal.
So, after an hour I decided to head back towards home and do a seldom used ballfield that had a fair amount of activity in the
50's. I had some luck before, and had about a 1hour until dusk. About 20 minutes in I got a good signal about 6" down and
I forked out the '44 merc. Stayed a bit longer and dug some more signals, nothing but clad and then it was dark.
So, a good end to the day.

Congratulations on the Merc. I dread digging anywhere 'round here. We've only seen slightly over an inch of rain since the first week in May! Thanks for the picture.
