Starting out with the temps pushing the 80 degree mark with about the same humidity near 7a, my hunts have gotten shorter. Yesterday and today I hunted a stretch of ditch bank along a major thoroughfare that I figured had been walked in or along over the years. Hunted one side of the road yesterday morning and the other side this morning. Only the upper part of the ditch on each side of the road had been mowed, so once mowed I will have the bottom and far side portion to hunt as well.
Yesterday morning I got 3 wheats and the 52s Rosie dime and 62 Washington quarter, along with some clad and cents. This morning I got the 39 Mercury dime, 4 wheat cents and what else you see. 2nd Cub Scout buckle over the past several months, as I recall.
Finally remembered to bring my camera along and got two fresh from the ground shots this morning. The wheat cent and Jefferson nickel were in the same hole. Obviously, a rather mixed signal, but the type I like to investigate. The next shot is of the Merc. 2 oldest wheat cents were 1917 and 1927.
If you are out, do a lot of drinking. HH jim tn
