Wish you would post a short story about these finds. Thanks for posting the pictures, it gives encouragement to others that there are still many interesting sites to explore. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

Hi Kelley,

I'm not too great of a story teller, but here goes.......

I have been detecting for about 4 or 5 years. I started at the parks and playgrounds, mostly
the sand boxes. I did the grass areas a little too. a couple years ago I meet a guy here in Fremont that lives in the mission disc. of town. that is where the oldest part of the city is the Mission San Jose was built in the late 1700's. He and his family have lived here all his life. So they know most of the old family's in the neighborhood. He invited me to hunt a couple of the property's with him. And then he invited me to hunt this old demo. site. He told me that the antique store use to be an old saloon from the late 1890's, and the auto store was the stage coach stop and blacksmith shop. Well, we started going there in the eve when the workers would finish for the day. the first find was made by Dave. He found a barber half dollar... I've never seen one before.. so I was soo stoaked. then I found a barber dime. then the next nite I found a token, my first, the next nite 2 more, and Dave found one. and they were from Irvington
thats where we were. and then we both found one from centerville.these were the original town ships that make up Fremont. Anyway thats how I got addicted to the old demos......hahahah
Sorry this got so long...I'll try and post some more finds. Rick

and looking at what you found and where you found them, I would say that you are using your head and working smart. I do not find as much items at some of the old sites, but what I do find are always better items than what I use to find at parks, schools and etc. Thanks for showing some of the items that you have found...and I enjoyed your story too! Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

Hi rentasquid,

Yes those are corks. they were all over the place. I just grabbed a bunch to put in my display case I plan on making. There were hundreds of bottle caps too. I grabbed a bunch of them also..
I am a carpenter, and do allot of woodworking projects, so I plan on making a display case with all the finds I got at this One Site..I don't know how soon I can get to it,so much going on at the house now with doing the remodel of my kitchen and other projects that the case is kinda way down on the list..But when I do get it done I will post it for all to see..
