Last Sunday...new pics

Last Sunday I had a GREAT day of detecting. I returned to a place I have hunted quite a bit, and I'm glad I did. I don't know how I missed these before. I got a strong silver signal (the strongest silver signal I have ever gotten), and almost wrote it off as a pop can. Anyway, in one hole five inches deep I discovered these three lovely ladies...I was truly amazed! Six months of detecting, and THIS is what I have been looking for! The pictures here turned out really nice (I posted some low quality ones on the Garrett forum the day I found the coins), so I figured I post the new ones here. My hunting season is basically over until spring, so I'm posting a pic of my silver finds from the last 6 months. This hobby is so cool, I absolutely love it!

Also, does anyone here ever send coins away to be graded? I would really like to have some of my coins graded but I am nervous about putting them in the mail.

I think that's amazing for 6 months! Are you hunting an old park or home sites?

Awesome finds! If I'd found those...I think I'd have a hard time calling it quits for the year :detecting: Have you looked locally for a coin dealer for grading?

Congrats!

keep working that site for everything it might hold as long as the weather cooperates, and then head out-of-town for milder wintertime detecting! With that streak of luck, who knows what the future holds for you!

Please, fill us in when posting about the make/model detector and coil used, general settings, and a rough description of the type of site(s) you're hunting. Many readers might gain some useful information from it. Don't 'X' mark the specific site (just e-mail me the details :) ), just give us a general description of its past use.

Thanks for posting. The photos look great and are almost on par with your detecting success!

I think he works at the Smithsonian Institute and they let him hunt the grounds after hours.

Send to a reputable grading company. I sent one to The Chicago Area once and all was well. Look in a coin book and all the address are usually listed where you can send the coins in. Insure it for a good amount just in case you lose it in the mail..or do as I did send UPS Insured.. Take Pictures and record the date and the package .

Murfar, you make me laugh!!!:lmfao:

Monte, the site I have been having great luck with contains the following: Pioneer wagon tracks, long-gone baseball diamonds, golf traffic and the Circus used to set up a few hundred yards away around the early 1900's. (the actual circus site is neck deep with plant life:veryangry:). On top of it all, I have the exclusive permission to hunt as I please. Man, as I read this paragraph I can't believe how good it sounds lol. I use a GTAx 550 in factory coin mode and all metal mode. I have done a couple of parks, and have gotten permission to hunt some old farmyards, and empty lots.

Thanks guys, tomorrow I'm going to see if I can find a coin grader who is relatively local....or send the coins away to be graded.

Way to go Johnny Cache!!!! we love to see that silver.Keep it coming.

Amazing. That's more old silver than I have found in TEN YEARS of detecting. You surely have a great hunting location. Thanks for the pictures.
