I've had my eye on this place for a while and finally got around to calling the owner and was able to obtain permission to hunt it. I had all day to spend there so I got there around 9 am and was talking to the owners, come to find out the place had been hunted a couple of times, damn!! It was a huge place so I was hoping they were sloppy and missed a few goodies. First good hit was a wheat, that was a good sign. second was a religious medallion, even better. After that just a few memorial and trash, until I hit an Indian, 1902, that dates the place. Well after an hour of clad, some wheats and trash, I finally got a 12-46 one the CTX, I'm thinking clad quarter because it was so shallow, maybe 2" much to my surprise out comes a merc, woohoo silver!! I scan the spot again and get a 12-47 maybe an 1" or so deep I pop a silver quarter, big smile now, life is good. Next hit about 2' away was a 13-11 12-14 8" down and I'm thinking I have a nickle. Cut the plug and start finding earrings, 4 earrings and I notice I have matching sets. One pair has 1955 Cyprus 3 Mils coins mounted in the earrings , a couple still had the clasps. Next hour goes by before I hit another Merc and the last good find was a complete compact at 10" down. It still has the mirror mounted inside. I was hoping for some older coins but, when you get there 2nd or 3rd, I figure I did pretty good coming away with some keepers.
