Last of 2006....

I got to hunt with my Dad in Va on Saturday. We went back to the cellar hole where he got the bust half dime. It gave up a few more flat buttons and one lonely Indian

But we landed 2 SWEET permissions before I had to leave. I'm sure he'll be hitting those this week.

I got back to Carolina and had to get in one more hunt in 2006. So I hit the woods with Mike in the pouring rain. I had a shower cap on the C$ and it did just fine. We went back to the cellar hole where I got the 1817 large cent last week. I hit this 1895 "V" nickel right off the bat.

Then came my heart breaker. I was really shooting for another Confedrate button. I got a Block "A" there a while back. Well it's not a C.S. button but it's old! That thing looked like an eagle looking to the right while it was muddy! I was robbed!

The back mark is "Leavenworth & Co. Superfine" that mark dates to the 1830's

The last piece has me stumped. It's brass and may have folded over so the holes line up. Or maybe not....

Any guesses? Best of luck to you all in 2007!

Headed out to the 2 latest early 1800 sites. Have my Brier Britches on and a gift for the owner. Will call with the report. Dad
