Last New XL Pro ?

I just want to thank you guy's for starting this forum, I have been using an XLT for ten years now and always loved it, it's great machine.
I bought a sun ray in line probe for it, and I like it a lot also, until I cranked up the power on XLT and had to go to the menu each time to
turn it back down when I wanted to use the probe. I was just surfing the web one day and saw this forum and started reading some old
posts and found the answer to my problem. A machine that had knobs, what a great idea. I work on a boat, and I can tell you that analog
phones and analog tv worked much better out here. ok i'll get to point, I may have just bought the last new dinosaur, a brand new XL Pro,
I feel like a kid at the toy store. I paid 550. dollars for it and didn't think twice. Thanks again fella's

Hello Woody

Welcome to the forum. Monte has some great articles on here, especially on signal balance and ground balance. If you get these two adjustments right, the XL Pro will respond much better on targets, and you will be able to sweep the coil a little slower.

WillBdiggin,

You're going love the XL Pro! You probably got the 950 (9.5" dia.) concentric coil (standard equip.) If you can, pick-up a Bullseye 5.3 coil which is actually 6" diameter. This coil has better target/trash separation in trashy infested sites. This detector is deadly accurate in ID'ng and in pinpointing & depth too.

An important thing to observe on your meter is that if the needle twitches to the left when swinging the coil over a target, it is most likely thrash item. In my last hunt at an older park, I got a faint signal through my headphones, swung the detector from left to right and forward and backward . . . still a consistent but faint signal. The needle locked on a penny. Pinpointed and got the same faint sound through the headphones but the depth was between 7 to 8 inches down. Dug down 7 1/2 inches and was a nice 1956 wheatie! A couple of feet ahead of the '56 penny, I got another signal with the same identical readings, dug down and out came a 1947 wheatie! I have to say, very very accurate!

On the XL Pro, the Signal Balance (control) is/does the same function as Pre-Amp Gain as your XLT. In short, the Signal Balance control allows the Receive (Rx) signal from the coil to be optimized for ground rejection circuits preventing overload and increase detection depth. Another important thing to remember, the Auto GEB & Signal Balance work in unison. Auto GEB must be reset everytime Signal Balance adjustment. Failure to reset Auto Geb after Signal Balance adjustment will result in poor performance also in ground rejection.

I wish White's had left a separate volume control as they did on the old 6000/D, 6000/D ser.2, 6000/Di etc., etc. Secondly, it would be nice if this detector had at least 3 tone id's.

Good Luck,

TC-NM

There is no problem with Tone ID. Find lower a theme "XL Pro ID Tone Mod Done" http://www.findmall.com/read.php?56,976482,976482#msg-976482. I made the additional plate which does this what you interests. She does even few more, 4 tones ID :) Additionally I add the documentation as to crumble the regulation of the sound volume in yours 6000 XL PRO. I use W6000 more than 15 years. I consider that is necessary the manual regulation of the ground (as in W5900). I made this. There is 10-the turn potentiometer and the switch GEB AUTO / GEB MANUAL. I soon will add this to the documentation MultiTone ID. Every perhaps then to myself to make. The greatest problem with XL PRO is the small casing :(
