I got out yesterday for what will probably be my last hunt of the year, what with all the holiday activities planned. Only hunted for two hours. This area of the park is not well maintained, the grass wasn't cut very close before the end of the season, so in some areas you lose a couple inches of depth. There are also fallen tree limbs which have been down for several months, they just mow around them. I turned on the detector, walked about ten feet and got a good deep silver signal, which turned out to be the ring, which is marked "sterling". I thought, today is either going to be a great day, or that will be my only keeper. It was the second option. The lighter is a souvenir of the U.S. Capitol.
I'm hoping that the ground doesn't freeze up too soon, so I can get out in January. Happy hunting, and Happy holidays.
