Last hunt of the year yields BIG BARBER!

floodplaindetector

Well-known member
Detecting buddy James and I headed a few states south to work some old public city parks and schools I had researched prior to the trip.
We hit the road @ 4:30 am. Temps hit 42 degrees yesterday. The ground was a little firm but easily diggable.
It was nice to get out of our northern tundra and see bare ground.
The big storm today cut our trip short but we got 2 days of detecting in.

The arrowhead pendant appears to be pewter with a silver snake attached to the front. It read like a deep nickel and I was happy to find it.
Originally I thought it was just a zipper pull.

Toward the end of yesterday we found a section of a real old park that had signals with almost all being old coins.
All of my 5 old barber coins came from that park. The 1900-s half dollar was a good 10-11 inches deep and was almost on edge.
James was nailing barber also as he got 3 barber quarters and a few barber dimes.
We were both having a blast and It was a great way to end the year!

Dave,

We've had a delightful warm up here in southern WI, but I've spent my time draining and refilling tranny fluid instead of detecting. We are getting rain instead of your snow, but that may change. Hope to get out for one more hunt this year.

Chris

Great finds but it’s what you have to do to make great finds hike in to spots like I do and drive to farther away areas.

Hey Chris,
This storm is a wicked one. We were lucky to get back when we did.
Hope you can get out again.
