Half a dozen local highschools got together and had a real old fashioned "Battle of the Bands" like they did back in the 40's. Heather plays the piano in her jazz band. At the end of their set of three tunes her band and the other band joined to together into one huge BIG BAND and played one of my Glenn Miller favorites In the Mood.

They were good, I had to tell my self that these are teenagers playing and not gray and balding old men.(like me)

Then on Saturday they competed in a local Jazz festival and won 1st place in their catagory.

All those thousands of dollars we have spent on piano lessons are paying off.

My oldest daughter was a fantastic trumpet player when she was in high school. Then she graduated and never played again. I wish she had stayed with it. Oh well, when they're adults they'll do what they want...

Iffen yer into Big Band,

Yuh might want to pick up a (IMProO) dynomite CD by Chicago fer you and yer daughter... believe it or not.... "Night & Day".... ALL BIG BAND Selections.... arranged by Paul Schaeffer (Late Nite w/Letterman Pauly :yikes:  ) They stay really "true" to the genre/idium... with that Chicago Signature sound... ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC !!

Saw them do a set of them LIVE.... Except for the originals, the best big band CD I own...

duh Gaf
