Last few yard hunts

JJ

Member
Been very busy with work but still managed to sneak out for a few quick hunts. Didn't capture any cool live action dig shots but here are the keepers cleaned up. Thanks MikeO for staying after me to get these posted and I hope Hurricane Sandy doesn't keep you indoors for too long. Mike, I tried a few things today and I don't think the machine is going to have to be shipped in for repair. I came to the conclusion that the probe and coils all work fine but the area i've been hunting the last few trips has some widespread EMI. I got away from that area today and she was purrin' like a kitten again. Problem solved. Thanks and I hope every one can find time to get out and dig. TC, JJ

AWESOME finds JJ. :clapping:

This darn weather is terrible its been raining and raining like days.
The good news is once it passes the ground will be like butter as long as it does not freeze. I have my fingers crossed for the best.

You know I was going to ask about the area but, I thought you said you tried it in different locations. My bad on that.

I am very happy that you do not have to send it in.

Super finds! You did really well for yourself. I really like that trade token you found! HH - Jim

Thanks for the replies guys. Mike, I'm going to keep trying the machine and setup in different locations as I'm still not 100% confident that there is no issue but it was running much better at one or two spots the last time out. I think running the machine and 10x12 sef blazing hot may be part of it. My buddy Greg uses a DFX and continually comments that he cannot get within about 20 yards of my machine or his machine will go bonkers. He commented that has been happening for the last month or so. Before then, he could hunt within 20 feet of my machine. That really makes it tough when two guys are trying to hunt the same yard and not interfere with each other. I was having fun switching between probe and coil on the sunray junction box to stop him dead in his tracks from across the yard. He thinks my machine has developed some kind of EMI leak. I had to lower the sensitivity down to 8 on the EXII to find the 05 barber dime at about 5 inches. I'll keep messing with it and hope it's nothing more serious.

Jim, this token is probably the most rare token I have ever found. It is not only unlisted, but hails from a ghost town (Rescue, Neb) a few counties away. So probably not many other tokens have ever been found from there. I normally don't sell finds but will let the more rare tokens go to justify the expenses of the hobby and because it would probably just sit in a jar with the rest of the common ones. I have already found it a new home as I'm not as enthusiastic about token collecting. Thanks for the replies, JJ

Thanks Eddie, this one was crusted over pretty bad too, wish I took a before picture. I disregard numi value when it comes to dug, crusted over nickels and like to know what I have found. I cleaned this one with a small brass brush and liquid comet. I have tumbled some rough nickels in the past mixed with medium grit for a day or two with good results, but that will put a showroom shine on them.
