Last few weeks...

The last few weeks have been lots of digging, not many coins. My fav stuff to find is old coins, but a cool relic is ok too. I found two toasted silver quarters 1945, 1963, an 1887 IH penny, and yet another 5 cent fish scale--1912. That makes 5 "fishies" so far this season! Not pictured is the 3 bucks in clad I dug up.

I was so excited when the remnants of the change purse came out of the hole...but alas there was not a single coin with it! My fav relic is the little book. I think it's a "stamp safe"...any info would be appreciated. It says "J.H. Breese Chicago" and "Midland Supply Co."

Thanks for looking HH

Great digs and finds.:clapping:
Love those 05 cent fishes.

Not much info on it other than whats engraved on the "safe/holder".....both the ones I found have a patent date of May 15, 1888 on them on the side opposite the rivet.

I found two auctions for the stamp safe. One has been engraved Henley Bicycles on the out side.......can't find anything on J H Breese Chicago or Midland Supply Co other than these two auctions.

This is for a nice little Victorian miniature book brass stamp case. The inside swivels out and there are two sides that are sprung to hold stamps. It is marked 'made by Midland Supply Co and is marked as such on one side and its marked on the other 'J.H. Breese, Chicago'. The top has a patent date of May 5 1888 and it is in absolute excellent condition with no dings, dents or damage. It measures 33mm (1.25") by 27mm (1").
