Last few hunts! :garrett:

Silver has gotten a little tough to come by during the holiday season for me. Since the 1836 Liberty Cap half dime a week or so ago, I have only snagged 1 silver coin, a 1917s Mercury.

My hunting buddy, Chris, and I worked some old ground this morning and he got the only silver item, a broken band 925 silver ring. Myself, I had one good coin yielding hole. It yielded 2 I H cents. 1 was a 1899 and the other a 1909. (And, no it doesn't) Did get another intact harmonica reed and one dropped bullet. Not shown are a few pieces of clad and Memorial's.

A few days ago I recovered the fairly hefty sterling ring as I was working my way back to my SUV. It came from the spot that is tough on silver, so didn't think to much about the black blob on the ring crest. When I got home and was checking the band for markings, it was marked 10k gold filled and under that, sterling. I thus determined the black may have been some sort of adhesive that held what was the 10k gold filled part. I always rescan my dirt and hole, but there is so much small rusted iron around I may have missed it if, in fact, it was in the dirt or still in the hole. That night we had a good rain and when I went back the next morning looking for the hole, I couldn't find it. Whatever loose dirt there my have been had washed away. Happy New Year, everyone.
