Last few days good finds, not impressive but nickles.

I have been concentrating on working for nickles with the DFX... You know the solid 20-23 vdi's and narrow signagraph. Tried mixed mode all metal, just can't get the hang of it. But running hot and with a high recovery speed and the 6x10 DD I have gotten several wheats and now some good nickles in sites that are very trashy. I would love to try the 6x8 SEF, but money does not grow on trees... Just in the dirt. :clapping:

Nice finds!! Great shape on the Indian!!
I happen to do well on nickles with my MXT and the 6X10 Eclipse. After 2-1/2 years of detecting I'm over 4500 nickles alone. The "sweet-spot" in my area has been 18-20 on the VDI. But I find them all over between 16 and 37.
Good Luck!!

Looks like that practice is paying off or you nicely Matt. Those are worthy finds in anyone's book. Keep at it and we'll be seeing pics of your gold ring finds soon also. Hank1 I have had identical results.

Nice finds and I agree the Indian head penny is impressive. Nickels drive me crazy as I dig more pop tops than I can count in the nickel range. My sweet spot is about the same 19-21 VDI using the 5.3 coil.

i have found that freq that the mxt runs on favors nickles, which leads to finding rings, good luck on your finds.

If you are finding a lot of nickles guys before you are using high Disc. and missing them and of course bet your boots a gold ring lurks as these guys went right over it..

18-22 is the VDI for most shallower Jefferson variaties.

Older(shield, buffalo, V or really deep Jeffersons will read lower and have gotten them at 14-16 VDI range..
