Hi all!
Been ages since my last post due to house commitments etc but finally managed to squeeze in several hunts at a local beach here in Auckland. The water has been very cold lately -but today is the 1st day of spring, so things should start heating up!
Two of the gold in these photos are from a previous posted hunt on this forum, the others are all new (well old!) including a large male signet ring yesterday (initialled JB) found 3 or 4 scoops down, out as far I I could stand from the beach at a very low tide! One of those random finds!
Most of the other rings are silver and junk....
The golds from left to right:
9ct -small female ring, water hunting
9ct (or maybe 14?) larger female ring with the remains of a pearl, been in the water for a long time!
?! (Looks like 14k) also from the same eroded beach in the water!
18ct - old female ring with stones all eroded by sand movement. Need to check the dates... An old English ring
9ct - small men's band
9ct - found yesterday, a large men's old signet ring
9ct - posted previously but not identified - large men's plain band, hall marked from the UK in the 1950s
9ct -small old female signet ring
Half of the above rings have been found with the Garrett Sea Hunter - my new favourite machine! So light and easy to swing in the water, and on a "clean beach" where you dig everything that machine rocks! I still love he ATX but feel that surgery of the machine into a more "Sea Hunter setup" is soon required!!!
I may have to belt mount the ATX and make an extension cable? Then replace the shaft with a standard one?
