Last Day Of February Hunt

Sooper Dave

Well-known member
It has been in the mid teens in the mornings around here but it warmed up to the mid 50's this afternoon so I took off with my Etrac to get in one last hunt for February. I door knocked at a house that I have been wanting to try for a while now. I mainly stayed in the front yard and it produced a few keepers for me. I started out with a few Wheaties along the sidewalk and then got a nice sounding signal that read solid in every direction at 22-44 and I was surprised to see a Merc in the hole. I went on to find a few more Wheats then the 1901 Indian Head and close by was the 1899 V Nickel just barely made it into the 1800's. I also found my share of Hot Wheels cars, shotgun headstamps and two brass squirrels, which is a first for me  I found a fired 3 ringer Minie Ball and a little ring that has Donald, Mickey, & Pluto on it. It was a beautiful day to hunt and I was happy to see this warm weather, I just spring gets here for everyone soon. HH David

It's been a very long Winter - I think I'm going nuts - why ... they look just like squirrels !

Congrats on the finds !

Great hunt David! I haven't been out since Dec 29th because of the weather and I feel like E-trac Ohio! :sadwalk:

that Disney ring is really neat! very nice finds and thanks for the pics.....

i dont think we'll be beepin anytime soon here in michigan considering its -4 and got 3 feet of snow still

Really nice finds Dave! I havnt been out swinging for about 2 months now. Its still snowy and frozen right smack here in the middle of central ILL. with no warmer weather in sight. Drivn me nuts too. Hope you post some more finds too. I really enjoy them!

Great finds...those brass squirrels are neat items

Thanks guys. This has been a rough winter for a lot of folks. We have been lucky not to get a lot of snow and the temps have stayed up for the most part not to freeze the ground solid. It has been a roller coaster of weather here about every week. It was in the 60's over the weekend and dropped 40 degrees in a few hours along with freezing rain to make a big mess. I would go crazy not to get out for two or three months :stars: Hang in there, the days are getting longer hopefully the warm weather will be here soon.

Man, that was a very productive yard. Those squirrels take the cake. I've never seen anything like that. Thanks for the pictures Dave!

ha ha ha ha.... I LOVE those squirrels. That is the craziest find but so cool. That was a great hunt for you. So fun to find a variety of things. Yes...it has been a very frustrating winter as we also haven't been able to hunt as much due to the weather but we have squeaked in a hunt or two and will share soon. I still have not found a V nickel.

Way to go ... I love the pictures too. Good luck and I hope you get to go back to that house. I bet there are some more winners there.
