Last couple of hunts

coinnut

New member
Not too much each visit, but it adds up. Had a bunch of buttons (a nice flowered pewter and a large cloak button). A nice colonial lock and a couple of odds and ends. Going out tomorrow for a while. Not sure if I'm going colonial hunting or Barber area hunting. The colonial sites are soooooo pounded. I'll post some (if) I get some. HH

Wow, great finds!!!!!:detecting:

:clapping: go to the pounded out spots anyways...i tried one up here and found these not much but more then what i thought i would find.

Nice finds CoinNut,

Nice to have site that old to hunt, even if it is a challenge.

HH,

that's some good stuff there coinnut! i know your're used to finding more than that, but hey, it's still a good several hunts. the old places to hunt are getting scarcer by the day. hh,

You're lucky, your sites get replenished. Find enough clad and you can really pay off those detectors. Up here, not much modern traffic, so even though what you find is old, it's over when it's over. Once it's done well, it's off to look for a fresh site. But sometimes you still go back to the old hunted sites. The first person on any of these old sites, probably came back with 15 or 20 colonial or large coppers, buckles, buttons, etc... It must have been a heyday in the 70's and 80's. I was hunting parks back then. I wish I knew back then what I know now.:ranting: HH

I guess I'll just have to get off my butt and start doing some research and leg work. But it's so hard to do when I could be swinging a coil instead of reading a book. We didn't have much of a winter, so I spent almost every Saturday hunting instead of doing research. Now I'm paying the price. But I'm going out on a hunch tomorrow to see what I can scrounge up. You know I'm not getting any younger. And that stupid, dirty word called "WORK" seems to get in the way most of the rest of the week. I long for a time when I can detect 5 days per week. Then I don't mind just finding a couple of things.HH

those are some nice finds coinnut,if those sites are pounded i guess they're never really finished untill you've had at it! hey keep up the good work, you never know when you might bump into some old silver that everyone else has missed! HH!
