tomorrow i finally buy a detector. im nearly convinced on the tesoro compadre. i will be using it in south east queensland oz for treasure hunting. ie; coins, jewlery etc....

but here is the rub. i like some of the stuff i read about BH detectors. so my Q is; is there a BH model that can compete with the compadre for price, ease of use, and all round effectiveness for oz conditions?

dont baffle me with bullshit, or stun me with science. just give me real FACTS!! please....

this will be posted in the tesoro forum also..

Hi Peter-d, I live in South East QLD also. I'm at Wynnum, I own 2 tracker IV's, very cheap, easy to use and great units for the money. I've got the 10" coil on one the 8" on the other. I've found between $20,000 to $30,000 worth of jewelery and coins in the last 2 1/2 yrs. Where are you planning to hunt? if you don't mind me asking of course. I've owned and used the Tesoro Dingo about 10 yrs ago, It was a great little unit for the price too. The BH detectors are a lot better unit than people give them credit for. The T4 would be a very good unit with easy settings, and great depth, the bonus is that the discrimination on these units is superb! If your interested in having a play with one of mine before you decide to buy, than send me a PM and we'll go from there. HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

I want to move next to you and run around with you. All I can find is ring pulls and empty beer cans. at $10-!5K a year that is more than I make working part time? You must have one heck of a honey hole3

I am not to experienced but learning fast .I bought a Bounty Hunter Lone Star and what little I do know about them I like .Its easy to operate and seems to be real good I am getting to be a professional at finding pop ,beer cans, and pull tabs. I have found about 20 cents in dimes an pennies in the last few hours I have used this, So I guess from a beginners view I like it for the money

Hi rennie, I get the amount of loot I get because I do it for a living, not a hobby. I do 12 to 14 hour shifts and detect in all weather situations. The retail amount is what I quote on, sad fact is you can never get the true amount of what the items are worth. I sell every thing I can at the markets, items that are too far gone I sell for scrap prices. I have owned the Infinium LS for a few months also, and it's nearly paid for half it's selling price already. Just a couple of weeks ago I scored a ripper necklace pendant with about 6" of chain still attached. It is magnificent, 10k yellow gold, with a total of 33 Diamonds. My jeweler said it's easily worth $800. He under values too. He quoted $3,000 dollars for a cracker of a Diamond ring I found, I got it officially valued in the city and it's value was $5,477. Two of the rings I found in the same year were worth $8,000 together. I hunt Surfers Paradise and other major tourist locals, and grid the sand like I grid out on the Gold-fields. I work very hard for every cent I get! HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

f2 fisher which is essentially a bounty hunter!..worth looking into!

I will be perfectly blunt here...
The Bounty Hunters beat the Tesoros in discrimination capabilities.
The Tesoros beat the Bounty Hunters in Depth capabilities.
Every manufacturer has some point they can hoot about...
Minelab will go deeper than a lot of other detectors...
If you want to dig less pull tabs and screw tops, go with a Bounty Hunter...
I do not think there is a machine out there that can top the BH in discrimination technology...
I think with a little more engineering, they could also get the depth a little deeper, and I think we will see some amazing machines coming out in the near future.
It is high time that BH listened to their customers and redesigned the machines.
Get rid of the muffler on a stick look, keep the great discrimination, light weight, and get some added depth.
In the end it is a personal decision on which detector is right for you...

HH,

BH-LandStar

thanks all for your input.

i chose the tesoro as there really is no argument for the bh4. but there is plenty for the tesoro.

i guess the main thing is having a go...! the t4 would be my second choice overall..
