Last and final hunt of the year. Long post, lots of pics...sorry !

Yes, it's time to talk about this year's last hunt me and Luke had two days ago. I ment to post this sooner but i kept forgetting the old camera in the car. So brace yourself for the final episode (12 pics... sorry for the dial up modem viewers!).

So we hit the road thurday with hope the colder temperature didn't froze everything. In fact, we'd have a great spot to hunt again, but it's far away and we didn't wanted to chance it by driving hours for nothing. So instead, we headded for the national park again. Here is the same view as two days ago, but this time to road was clear.

Wind wasn't too storng and it was pretty cloudy at first, but then the sun hit us good and it felt great to be there once again.

There was a very thin crust of ice in the most interresting areas. That didn't stopped us. but first we wanted to take a closer look at the ice to see if this would turn out to be a good fight or just plain easy. Oh great, the ice is very thin...

I took a long time to make sure my gloves were reaired okay and i added a few layers in my wadders. I didn't trust them to be water thight and i was right about that because water still leaked inside. But i had plastic bags in and two pairs of heavy thermal sox in...

So we hunted for an hour or two, but stayed on the shore at first. My very first scoop turned out to be a pair of twonies ! Wow four bucks on the first scoop ! That will be an awsome day i taught... well those were the only townies we saw all day :( After a while, we decided to head to the main Chalet where a good wood fire would keep us warm while having lunch.

<img src="http://pages.infinit.net/fggl/last6.jpg">

Restaurant was closed, but we had a good lunch all ready. My son was pleased to play along outside and he enjoyed lunch as well as we did.

After lunch, the wind was a bit stronger and waves showed up a little. That cleared the area where i wanted to hunt the most. But that is also the heavyly hunted area. We must be 10 guys doing that beach all summer long. This leaves very fiew signals even if the place is huge !

But boy are there many pull tabs over there ! I wonder if i'm not the only guy...with Luke of course to remove them. I had about 50 of those ! The deeper i went, the less pull tabs there is, but also the less signals are to be found. I only got a few quarters and cents here and there. I was really hoping for any kind of jewelry, not even gold, but none showed up for me.

When the sun started to fade, it was time to head back to the detecmobile

<img src="http://pages.infinit.net/fggl/last8.jpg">

Once i got back to the car, i had a big problem unfilling my keepers poutch as it was frozen solid !

<img src="http://pages.infinit.net/fggl/last9.jpg">

Luke had a good moment... a nice nitro ring that turned out to be crap but it was fun to see the big fake diamond in the scoop !

<img src="http://pages.infinit.net/fggl/last10.jpg">

And finally here my results for that day... a little more than 5.50$ and no jewels what so ever :(

<img src="http://pages.infinit.net/fggl/last11.jpg">

And this is the end of this year's season. I wont return for a while except maybe if we find a running river with no ice crust... we still have a week vacation to fill out !

Here is my final count for the season. I broke my record on gold, coins and rings. But last year my silver count was a bit higher. But last year, i was counting silver coins with silver jewels. I now make a separated count... well that's it for now !
