Got out for a couple hours yesterday and a couple hours today in some virgin Ground. Here are the best finds:

1940 Liberty Half Dollar
1928 Liberty Quarter
1913 Barber Quarter
1897 Barber Dime
1942 Mercury Dime
1964 and 1953 Rosey Dimes
1964 Washington Quarter

Happy Hunting

It goes to show a few things. Virgin sites are still out there. You don't need the latest and greatest to find the good stuff.

Congrats on a Killer hunt ! :beers:
And oh yeah ... go back and hunt the site again !

That was a good return for time spent. What a great site!!

This place is a few hours from my current home, back where I grew up. There are literally 40-50 sites like this assuming I can obtain permission. The town started up in the 1850s so there is potential. Funny thing is nobody metal detects there. I need to get the hang of the TTF as I had two sites that were a complete null from the late 1800's. Also, a trash coil may be in order. May have to wait til next year as the ground had about a half inch of frost there.

The small coils work great. The 6x8 does well in trashy sites with very little depth loss. The 6" Excellerator does well too if you can get used to erasing a chalkboard with a pencil eraser!

I met someone in my club who hunts TTF and I need to learn it.

I just go to my XP DEUS if the nulling gets too bad (but still have to gain confidence that I am not losing depth).
