Last 4 trips to the river-Part one.

fongu

Well-known member
I'm running behind posting my photos from my last 4 trips to the river. Sometimes I'm spread mighty thin for a fat man and for one reason or the other, hadn't been keeping up with my finds. I'm showing the trash to let the newer members know you got to dig trash to find treasure. Lots of pull tabs, 22 casings, 22 bullets, large caliber pistol rounds, tin foil, lures, sinkers, etc. Photos 1-3 are from this Monday and the ring is 92.5 sterling from China and more than like cubic zirconia stones, I haven't tested yet. Nice marble, either my 3rd or 4th in the river and # 3 is the trash. 1st car key near the wall. Photos 4-6 are what I found the day I recovered the ring for the man under the boat house. Sterling ring, ear ring in shotgun cap, 1st pocket knife and another key. Part of a lure and extra spoon from another lure, I guess and first trigger I've found. Haven't tested the ear ring, but believe it's gold plated and not real deal. Behind on testing, also. HH.

Here are the other photos. The first two photos are when I tried to find his ring, but the water was too rough and I found T-Rex and some clad. 3rd photo is the day I went to the river and my At/Pro died on me, but found this while waiting on him to arrive at the boat house. Last photo is more junk and I found quite a bit in the shallow or up to mid chest range. Found a little at neck deep, but not near as much.
This has me caught up and I haven't been out too many times this year. Hope that's about to change for the better. HH. I'm sure the stones in photo #3 are cz's, but will check anyway.

Those are all very good targets that say a lot about that place, as well as a testimony to your skill and dedication! Its seen heavy traffic, and NO hunting except by you!
Nice!

Nice work fongu:thumbup: Agree with Mud, doesn't look like anyone else has hunted there. That T-Rex is a cool little beastie, I suspect more dinosaur finds might show up because the new Transformers movie has the Dinobots in it, and I'm sure kid's will love those guy's:rofl:.:detecting:

Nice hunts, Fongu! You're getting some interesting jewelry and getting that site cleaned up. I expect that there's some gold hiding in there!

I think the gold is in the deeper water at the end of the dock, but it's still too cold for me and too deep for chest waders. Everybody dives off the dock into the deeper water. They are letting the water down November-1st and if I don't get it this summer, I'll hit it in the fall.
Lots more competetion in the fall, tho. Hope to find enough to buy a wetsuit this year. HH. This man talked to me about 30-45 minutes yesterday trying to get me to come over to his house and detect the sloop behind his house, but I just didn't have time. He is the second person to tell me about a sand bar up the river that attracts hundreds of boaters and swimmers on the weekend. Maybe I can get my pastor to drop me off one day in his boat and pick me up later on in the afternoon. This guy was interested in metal detecting, but he made me nervous wanting to dig my targets and I showed him the scoop and said no thanks. Kind of made my radar go off. Lots of people think we find great treasures and some are just friendly and curious, but I'm not a trusting soul.

I just ordered a 3mil Farmer john with a front zipper off of some website last week for 118.00...I think it was "scuba.com" or some such...I'm gonna wear my underarmour top to keep the sun off....its not here yet, but I will let you know if it is worth it, I could have used it this morning for sure! That sandbar where the boaters hang out should be a good spot...you should plan exactly what you said...on a rainy day or some day when nobody is around.

Hope you got a rash guard shirt. I rented a wetsuit back when it was cold and I was in the water about 4 hours and my nipples were raw and got an infection. You're moving more with the detector and scoop and the rash guard shirt will stop this. I bought one last time I rented this wetsuit and it worked great and was well worth the money. I want to buy a wetsuit, but the guy at the dive shop said since I was losing weight, I might wait until I got where I want to be weight-wise before buying my own wetsuit. It needs to fig snug to do it's job. HH mud.

It's always nice to also see the trash. Seeing the trash shows us what kind of hunter you are, what you were probably searching for and where.

Congrats on that jewelry.

Love those marbles in my scoop. Hate the trash, but lots of it sounds like jewelry and that's what I'm after.

Very interesting finds. And I dig that little marble!

Exactly what I was thinking. I have a soft spot for the old marbles. :wiggle:
