Last 3 Hunts and a Cache...

Howdy--

Wow, getting ready for Christmas and have been bussy with my Hospice volunteering - just not enough time to detect! However, my last 3 hunts were productive. The first 2 hunts, at vacant lots yielded a couple silver coins, a silver belt tip and a few wheat cents. The third site, behind an abandoned locksmith's shop produced the "cache" . The Cache consisted of 129 lbs of keys (yellow brass)! The keys were surface finds - just had to rake them into a pile and shovel them into buckets. I took the 129 lbs of keys ($1.75 per lb) with 12 lbs of #2 copper ($2.30 per lb) to a recycle establishment and returned home with an extra $253. This is a hobby that pays for itself!! Best of luck and...

Merry Christmas and may all of your finds be of silver and gold!

129 lbs, pretty amazing really. Good job......and on your Hospice volunteering, too. :thumb up: HH jim tn

That's enough money to buy some new gear and or gas money for driving to hunts for a while - pretty cool !

Nice! That’s a lot of keys!!! I’ve already saved and found enough change to buy my new Equinox! And a new MI-6 pinpointer!

Recycle is the only thing I've sold since I started detecting! Nice bonus!!!

Several of the detecting clubs in our area have a policy of gathering all the copper, brass, etc., and the club then uses that money for 'seeded' hunts for members. And the best part is the 'trash' is being recycled.

Thanks jim tn! Yes, the holiday season is tough for those who have suffered recent losses of loved ones. I thank God that I have my detecting as my therapy, Happy 2018 to you and..,.

Thanks timwied. Recycling is great: clean up the environment AND put $$$ in your pocket. I haven't sold any of my finds (other than recycling) although I have traded some of them. Happy 2018 to you! Best of luck and...
