Larger coil, greater depth?

Has anyone tried the 10x12 coils? And how did it work for you? I am getting great depth now but the silver coins in this one park are getting deeper. I think I have cleaned most of the shallow ones out at about 4-6 inches and am now in the 8-12 depth. The ground is rich dark soil an not too hard to dig. Mercury dimes hit solid in the zinc silver range but are getting fewer. I got a beautiful 1944 mercury at 8 to10 inch range that looks like someone dropped it yesterday.

I have use the same coil many times, but found in areas where there's a lot of targets and trash it can't be used. I'm not sure there's deep coins in the areas where I hunt. Just my input.

You'll likely see an inch or a bit better on quarter sized objects, possibly no improvement or even less sensitivity on smaller objects A fair amount more on large objects, but all at the expense of dealing with target masking and confusing responses in trashy areas. Hope this helps.

I have used the 10X12 some. It is a good relic coil. It gets a lot better depth on large objects. It covers more area.

Not so on coins. When I air tested the 10X12 it only got about an inch or less more depth on quarters, nickles, dimes and pennies than a 7" coil. I'm just guessing but it should get less than 1/2" more depth than the stock 8X9 coil. If there is congestion of targets (trash) it makes things difficult.

I dug a clevis at 18" and it could have picked it up a lot deeper.

Hope that helps,
