We finally got a small break in the weather with temps going up to the high 40’s melting a lot of the snow on the ground. I decided to go out to a field that has been very good to us this season. The top of the ground was quite muddy so careful walking was required but beneath that mud the ground was still frozen rock hard. My first good signal was a solid 12-45 on the CTX and after scraping the mud off the target area I took my Predator shovel and on an angle tried to break loose the ground. After a couple of attempts a chunk came loose and this is what I saw!
As usual the fertilizer was not kind to this 1849 Large Cent but I am glad to have it particularly it is a date I have not dug before.
