Large cent

Got out to a new permission and found 1 cool coin, 1854 Large cent along with other not so interesting finds. Ox shoe, scissors, couple of clad, square nails, tape measure, harmonica reed and misc. odds and ends. Always fun to do a little fishen in the dirt. Back to reality tomorrow. :(

Could you tell what side was up on the LC? I suppose the obverse??? Back is real nice; copper takes the soil hard. Gotta be more there!

mcb613, I am not sure what side was up, the front looked better in the field than the back. The back had hard green crust that I thought was not going to come off or would leave pit marks. To my surprise it was better than the front which is not to bad either. Both sides look better in person than I my pics. Very happy it is not toasted... :) J.calz

Nice finds! Congrats on the large cent!

Good looking Coronet Jeff. Ya gotta love how many turn up here in CT. I pulled one Matron head cent in yesterday's club hunt at about 2 p.m.
