Large Cent

Weather finally is breaking here in the Northeast(At least in upstate NY). Got out of the house after lunch and hit a few spots I know. The first was a corn field where an old school stood in the 1800's. Got a couple descent signals but the ground was still like concrete! So off to a place where a house once stood in the 1800's but is just field now. Still a lot of snow but enough bare spots to keep me happy. And I could dig for the most part. Was hunting a knoll that was bare, but no iron signals so I was surprised when I got a coin hit. Thought it was a wheaty from the reading, down about 5". Nope! A 1824 Large Cent. Other than some kind of buckle and a axe head, that was all I could find signal wise .

Great find in the large cent...

Congrats! That is a great find! I know it gave you a thrill coming out of the ground, Beale.

Great old coin and well worth getting out in the snow to find it. Maybe you can post a close-up of it when you have a chance?
