I've been real busy around work so I didn't have the time to photograph and post my finds from the last few weeks till now.
Here's some photo's and details of finds from the last five or six hunts. I didn't have time to clean all of these finds yet either !
These coins, relics and pieces of jewelry were found at a few old abandoned houses, at a friend of ours turn of the century farm house, along a few old sections of sidewalks and at a school that was built in 1934 - this school is now being used as an apartment building.
The 1848 Large Cent has a hole drilled in it - a common practice in the old days - coins were put on a string or wire - tied off and worn inside clothing to help prevent loss or theft.
I've found (14) Large Cents so far and (3) of them have this type of hole drilled in them.
The 1900 S - Barber Dime was found 7" down near a well at an old abandoned house.
There are three Rings here - two are Sterling Silver and the one was probably only silver plated - but the plating fell off.
The one silver ring has a real nice looking turquoise heart on it - this ring was found 8" down at the old school - so my guess is ... it's pretty old.
The Heart shaped Pendant was found along a section of sidewalk in front of where an 1800's house was located. I was told that the house was torn down in the 1950's - looks pretty old.
The World War 2 era - U.S. Military uniform pin was found on the back yard of an old abandoned house.
The copper/brass Watch Fob says ... "The Oil Well Supply Company - Pittsburgh, PA" on the back and shows view of an oil field with a oil well on the front.
This company was in business from 1878 to 1930 making this watch fob pretty old. I found this piece approx. 6" down along side the driveway at an old abandoned house.
This type of Chevrolet radiator emblem was only put on cars the company manufactured in 1929 - 1930 and 1931.
Found this piece on the front lawn of our friends old farmhouse. The photo posted below shows what this type of emblem looked like on the car.
Spring's finally here - good luck to all this season ! --- Mark
