I haven't been finding much lately, April was very dry here, but we have had some rain over the past two weeks, and my finds are picking up. Monday I found a 1917 merc., and several wheats, which for me is a good hunt. Today I went to an area where I found a toasted large cent back in February. That one was so bad I could only read a couple letters on the reverse. Today about twenty feet from where I found that one I got a good silver signal which was still solid when I turned 90 degrees. The depth was reading about 8 inches, but the signal sounded too good for something that deep. But when I dug down about 8-9 inches, a big green disc popped out. This one is better that the last, and it appears to be pre-1835, based on the size. I can see some of the date, looks like maybe 1834 or 1831.
Other finds are mostly junk, a car thermostat, brass garden hose fitting, and some sort of copper winding (solenoid?). Lots of screw caps. Total time was 2.5 hrs.
