Large and Small Coil Functionality

New to this "joint", thanks for letting me post a question. I have the option of purchasing the larger or smaller coils for the CTX. What is the functionality of each and the benefits of each of those two coils. I will be doing mostly coin hunting in rural Central Illinois with some occasional beach hunting in Florida and the Bahama's. What would be the best 2nd coil under those circumstances? Thanks. River

If you feel you are in very trashy area, such as parks, picnic area's, the small coil may be your best bet. For wide open area's, such as fields, beaches, pastures, then the bigger coil would probably be the best choice.

I have not tried the big coil but do have the smaller one and I can say it is like a surgeons scalpel. Very tight and precise. Since I hunt in trashy sites it's "the coil" I keep on my CTX. Would not dare part with it.

Most times people brag up their equipment in these forums and you never get an honest review. Here is my opinion on the 6 inch CTX coil. It might be the best small coil I have ever used. The depth of the 6 incher is very surprising. The cost is up there. But the coil produces. Big time.

I have all three coils. I like them all, and have had good results with all of them. But for me, if I could only have two coils, they would be the standard coil and the six inch coil. The reason, being, here in Missouri, I use the big coil for hitting old homesteads and fairgrounds that are now now farm fields, in order to cover a larger area quicker. With farming operations and normally down time due to winter, I have more time during the year to hit smaller areas, yards, parks, etc. So to be practical, the standard coil and small coil would be the best choice for me if only could have two coils. The six inch coils is very good at picking things out of trashy areas.....Circumstances my be different for others.......Good luck with however you decide to go......HH
