landstar and saltwater

Anyone have any luck using the landstar in the saltwater with the manual ground balance

hi ricky, i know the landstar should do well in the dry sands, but will prolly not do well in the surf or wet sand. lots of land detectors are like that; you really need a dedicated beach machine if you intend on hunting in the water or wet sand on a regular basis. of course, you could always turn your knobs down to meet the conditions, and gb accordingly, but you will lose depth and sensitivity. but... you can try it, it might work out well for you. good luck, and hh,

Rickym I swing a Landstar But can't help you with salt water beaches. There aren't any here in Colorado. I agree with Gray Ghost though, I don't feel even the manual groud balance on my unit would be enough to compensate for wet salted sand or surf. I hear that the new line up Titanium series may have a setting for saltwater on it but I'm not positive on that. I want to here some feedback on those units before I could dump that kind of $ out. If your going to hunt salt water areas alot I would recommend reading alot of posts by the people who are doing this type of hunting and see what units they are useing. If you discover a perfect unit for this plese post your results. I have been curious on what unit would be best for this hunting myself. Not that I will be hunting any ocean beaches but because mainly courious to see what units can handle the extreme conditions of salt. I have heard great coments on P.I. detectors for this. From what I've read it is basically unaffected buy salt or harsh ground conditions. The ones I have seen though hit the hip pretty hard, and since I'll probably never hunt the ocean scene would be hard to justify the cost. Please post what you find out though. Thank you.
