[attachment 63454 DSCF0060.jpg]larry(in) and mysself hunt 2 days 9 miles from my home and found this.... 3 class ring,,1936,1935;1929... and 3 other 14 k rings.. found 4 walking libery halves, 2 standing libery quarters, 7 silver dimes,2 buffalo nicks,1 v nickel.. also what pennies. other junk rings, religous medals. 2 sterling silver bracelets and one had a name and state engraved on it.. also a key ring dated 1952 award winner with a ss number engraved on it. That must have beeen the good ole days....

and have found alot of older coins and a bunch of older jewelry as well (including 1954 and 1929 class rings).

What interested me the most in your pictures are the things that look like metal "clips" - I've found a bunch of those as well - I'm not sure what they are, but they seem like they might be clips or parts of suspenders. Not sure if they were used on swim wear from that time period or what.

Got any other ideas what they might be?

they use to wear bathing caps and that is the snap that connected the strap that went under the chin. I even found one that still had some rubber on it. I am 62 and remember when some women wore bathing caps.. Always thought they looked corny!

I recall seeing some kids wearing those when I took swimming lessons as a little kid. I think you're dead on with your guess and thanks!

Nice thing too is that now if I'm hunting a swimming area and I find those, I know I'm hitting an older swimming spot.

Grats again on your finds - may you get many more!

and hunted the sand area ..found 6 wheat pennies,so that makes me think after the vegetation is gone i could do some good out of the water... I am spoiled now.. Would like to find another spot. We have one here in the middle of town that use to be a swimming beach also. I showed it to Larry(IN). will go there next........

I've not gotten into diving yet, so I'll gladly tell you where it is if you want to give it a shot. Once you get off the sand there's a ton of vegetation and lots of muck and gook to deal with, but I'd guess there's plenty of older coins and jewelry to be found there in the deeper water.

Problem is there will doubtless be tons of fishing jigs, lead sinkers, hooks, and countless other crap from over the years. If you're into it, I say give it a shot.

I'll PM you right now.
