"Lake Looter 250" Waterproof 250 :twodetecting:

That is really cool. Please post it on the "other" Garrett forum. It will always float! No need to stress the headphone wire pulling up the detector from the bottom.

Beer is not my thing, but I will definitely drink to that. Great looking setup. That is what I need for the beach I go to. There are lots of drop offs. I isn't a smooth sand beach. I know places where they jump off rocks into deep holes. With my snorkel setup and an aqua Ace I could clean up.
You did a neat and professional looking job.
When you step in the water here you go to 3" right away.

...info on the box you used. That aint no latching, lexan waterproof number!

After trying a $30.00 Pelican case that leaked I bought a fancy lexan box that didn't work. The dimensions on their web site was an inch off. Then I bought a waterproof bag for $25.00. Once I got it home it said that even though it's waterproof it is not recommended to be submersed. Well the two boxes I bought had silicone seals. So does this polycarbonate heavy duty food box! When the box came I had to pry the lid off for it was vacuum locked. It passed my over night water test too. It fits the 250 like it was made for it. I suspect it will hold many other brands of control heads.
The number is a hlc313

now all you need is a name for it!! I called mine the Otter Ace and John Edmonton called his the Aqua Ace. Whatever you call it, I think you will be surprised at how well it's gonna work in the water. One question I have is: Did you use anything (IE:marine silicone sealant)on your coil wire splice? One lousy drop of water in there will ruin your day. I siliconed my Otter anywhere an iota of water might get in.
Good luck and let us know how you like the ______ ACE!!

I'll be working on the new name for the waterproof 250. The spice was sealed by double wall shrink tubing. This is for water tite connections. When you heat it it activates a waterproof glue inside the tubing.
I know this 250 does good in the water. I have hunted 3 times and found 4 rings. 3 were junk but one nice keeper. The a .925 earing. This all found in shallow water up to my knees. Now I can get out farther!

Just a super fantastic job Kenny. It should have great bouyancy so that when you find a target and start digging it will float there beside you like my 1280 did. Too bad I gave up the waterhunting as this looks like a great challenge. Looking forward to seeing your water finds. HH Ken

Thanks! That's something I didn't know about. Having the detector float some. I've only been knee deep so far. Now I will see what I can get out a little deeper!

Kenny, Ingenuity in metal detecting, go figure.....I can't wait to get the stuff and transform my 250 into a water treading and diving metal munchin' machine. Gotta ask one question, though, how ya going to drag all that gold and silver when it starts coming in? hahahaha...Jack

I may have to hire a local to follow me with some type of truck for my finds! I'm leaving right now for a mini vacation for 3 days. The Lake Looter will get a work out. Take care Jack.

It may need a little lead in the bottom to shift buoyancy, but it is nice nice nice. Gonna use that for my Golden if I can get the stuff to extend the cable.

Kenny, I like your Lake Looter 250 it's a great idea but what keeps the electronics from moving inside the the container?

The head fits in the box pretty tight. But the coil and headphone wire pushes it even tighter. It really doesn't move in there.
