Lake Loot...Has anyone ever tested the depth between the Excal 800 and 1000

Skully

Excal 1000 Loot

Took a short spin 2 1/2 hours on an area I've grid hard with the 800 and vibra probe..There shouldn't have been targets left..

Was wondering maybe I just missed the targets because of the size of the 800 coil (Remember I grid in three directions) or
Is the 1000 better at depth..I've never compaired the two..
Any way heres the pics..

My dad has the 10" and my brother and I both have the 8". Note: the 8" is actually like 7". Benefit with 800 is you can turn sens. up a little more, and a lil easier to swing in water. I dont think the 1000 gets much deeper, if any. We seem to dig targets at same depths. Did you seem to find much difference in depth? HH yall! :D

That's a tough one Skully. I have never bench tested them, because I think bench tests are inaccurate for real time hunting. Have run both units though and like Rob says the 800 can be run hotter, because you are not reading as much ground. The coverage is much better on the 1000 though, so it may get a little nod on depth, but not much if any. Maybe the targets were missed or masked by iron and when you disrupted the ground, it moved the targets into a postion, where you could get a read. Many varibles, but I would think fresh water would be easier to really get it all, because you do not have to deal with piles of sand piling up on the targets out there and many times there is a clay or rock base, not too far down, keeping the targets from sinking too deeply into Davy Jones locker!

I run a 12" SunRay coil on my Excal......it does go deeper and of course covers more area. It is also good with locating the object which is right under the very center of the coil. But it is just a tad slower on the recovery than the stock 10" coil but it is a little more sensitive to smaller targets. I hunt mostly chest deep water where there are very few targets, so a bigger coil is a plus.

You are starting to get good at finding them Old Silver Coins at that spot of yours. Another piece of Gold to add to the Pot is also great. Congrats on another Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Those Halves are pretty tough to find on land but in the water, that is where they still lay dormant, that is until you came and found them. Should be a lot more Silver Coins and Jewelery at that spot and hope it keeps producing for you. About the Depth difference between the 800 and the 1000. The 1000 should have a couple more inches of Depth (maybe 2" or so) than the 800 does since it is a bigger Coil. The 800 is primarily a good machine to use in areas where the 1000 cannot get into or in trashy areas which really doesn't matter too much since your going to dig everything that sounds off good. I have never tried the Excalibur Detectors but they should still be about the same as any other Detector as far as different Coil Sizes and Depth Gains or Losses are concerned. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.:detecting:
