Lake Hunting with the Sov ?

My parents live next to a lake that in the Victorian era to the 1920's was a big lake front resort area due to all the mineral springs and hot springs, not to mention the beautiful lake. I found a couple of Victorian era resorts on the Sanborn maps I want to hunt (there's nothing there now), but I've never hunted a fresh water lake before.

I'm planning to take my Sunray S12 (and WOT) and my beach scoop.

Any tips for lake hunting ?
