Lacrosse Belt Buckle found on South African Military Boar War Camp site!!

I was sent this Lacrosse belt buckle that was found on a Commonwealth Military Camp site (1899-1902). Since the British are not know for this sport it must have been dropped or discarded by on of the Canadian from one of our units that served there. Pierre from South Africa sent it to me and it arrived just before Rememberance Day, so I carried at the Camp X service..I thought it fitting as Canada has declaired this years as "Year of the Veteran" ( and has issued coins to that effect also) My home town is the home of Lacrosse in Canada and most of the Toronto Rock Lacrosse team are from around my area. Lacrosse is Canadas national sport Hockey is the Winter National sport, however Lacross is the only sport I watch. Any sport where you can hit the other side with big sticks wearing little padding is a Great Sport!!!! The bottom edge of the Buckle is missing..I think it would have been the same as the top.
For a photo of the buckle please check out this link..a friend posted the photo as I don't have a camera yet
