Lack of silver quarters

Got the AT Pro in January and am loving it. Have found 30 silvers so far this year including 2 half dollars. My problem is out of the rest of the 28 silvers, 27 are dimes and only one quarter. Is there something I am missing by not finding any silver quarters? I am finding plenty of clad quarters just no shiny ones. Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks

Probably the quarters were scooped up with another machine, and they missed the dimes. Quarters are so easy to identify due to their size to get with any detector.

Pity the poor soul who missed all that silver.....:sadwalk:

I have the same sort of ratios. I think what John said is probably very likely. The other factor is that dimes are small and easier to lose, and harder for people to see and pick up shortly after being dropped....

Yep same here mostly all dimes about an equal ratio of rosies to merks but only maybe 4 quarters in now my 3rd year with the newer machines and one Half dollar this year my first ever in all my detecting years since I was a kid. I'm 53 now and since getting a few of the Newer detectors that have come out in the past 2-3 years first an Etrac in 2009 and then an At Pro in the 2010/2011 winter. I have been finally finding the silver and mostly they are dimes but I'm not complaining at all. Averaging 30 or so silver dimes and a dozen silver war nickles a year for the past few years now. Quarters were easy pickings back in the day.

I'll go with Cache. Dimes were easier to lose and more abundant in pocket change, with kids especially. Even back in 1980 when silver was far more plentiful, lots of dimes and not very many quarters. About the same ratio as I find these days for silver coins.

I also am experiencing the same thing you are. I just dont think there are any left at the places both you and I hunt. I've only really been hunting 2 places this year religiously and sad to say the quarters whether clad or silver are not there and if they are, then they are "deeeeeeeep". I have found about 22 silver coins this year and only one was a no date standing liberty quarter, the rest were dimes and war nickels.
