..... May I come in ?? <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">

..... Dont have a camera "YET" Thats why Im here. I need to learn all I can as when my tax return comes back I plan on buying a digcam. so far Ive narrowed my preferences down to a Sony 91 or 95. depending on available price. Ill have about $700 extra to spend so Il need to find a GOOD price on a 95 to go that route ...... but maybe Ill get lucky !!
Sooooo anybody got any hints, opinions, facts, etc ? Ill be using it to shoot a house inventory, Ill also use it to shoot MDing finds, collectables, (so the macro will come into play) and just all around general outdoor photography.
Ive chosen the Mavica due to the ease of downloading to computer from floppy, and they are cheaper than the mem sticks, I also have a friend that has a 91 and have seen some of his vacation photos and they rival my Minolta 35mm pics
So fire away with your comments and advice cus Ive got about a month to make up my mind
Question #1 is the price difference between the 91 and 95 worth the difference in the features of the two cameras ?

I just put my 32 meg SmartMedia's up for sale because they were too small. I haven't heard anything about the 1.4 conversions for higher capacity being anything but slow. I have heard the Sony's do a nice job on close-ups.
With the price you talked about you're not that far off what I paid for my Olympus C2500L which is what I evolved into after buying 2 previous cameras. The last one I had was the Olympus D600L which did everything very well with the exception of two things. One it did poorly in low light conditions having trouble focusing. The C2500L has an infrared assist light for focusing in low light. The other thing it did poorly on was close-ups. You had to buy a macro lens to really get in on the minute details of a coin. The C2500L takes the same macro lens but doesn't need it. Zooms in just fine and takes shots that are just amazing for clarity. I will attach a photo I just took of a floppy drive that I shot to show the shipper. And it was optimized so it is actually a bit more clear than shown...
This camera takes both SmartMedia and Compact flash film. There will actually be a Type 1 Compact Flash hard drive later on this year.
Lastly I will mention that this one has an immense support group that helps each other with questions and suggestions for both product and picture. Check into the camera you are thinking of buying and see if they have a user group.
Good Shooting... Guvner..

..... download from floppy and store on zip and cd disks, so the 1.4 limit doesnt bother me. floppy disks are easy to find even in the outback of BFE however try finding an exact match mem stick while on vacation in the same circumstances could be a problem ..... just a couple of thoughts that have gone through my mind while deciding on what to do .... but I will take your suggestions into account, Thanks Guv
