Welcome aboard. Nice green stone find you have there. Kinda doubt I'll find one of those over here!

Hello there to you all. Yes greenstone is native to NZ and and of a very limited supply. Only found this one cos it had a coin attached with it, at a place i call the bulldozed church site. (Was an actual youth hostel.)
No gold in that collection except the gold plated watch. Most of my finds are from beach hunting. I did find a 10k gold ring recently, was a very happy moment. Found 18 rings before i found my first gold one...lol. Was worth the wait. Bout 5 months.
G day Mick from Dubbo. Only a few detector shops here and we cant get treasure magazines...There is a good site here called the NZ Gold Fossicking Forums. In there you will find a page ''Other Treasures'' thats where the detector heads are. Other than that there is no detector site in NZ.

My first GOLD anything. A 10k gold ring with small diamond.

21 coins

Thought this was a ring at first. Just a cut off pipe

My bros finds as he came up to hunt with me. A penny and some japanese yens.

A piece of greenstone broken off from a larger piece which was once a tool for something. Found on a beach by a friend recently. A couple of thousand kilometers from where it originates from. Seems trivial but an awesome find considering where it was found. Origin far south, found far north. Pictured her with my piece.

That green stone looks a lot like jade ?

Hi to all on this site. And a big hi to all that have frequented my page.
Hi Joel. The Nz greenstone is somewot similiar to the Jade stone. Both are differant and have there own identities. The piece my friend found is a very rich dark green., and that is so awesome. My piece is a light green type piece. Why and where the differance im not sure. Jade and greenstone are unique to there own countries/origin. At a jewelers the other day i said why are these newzealand pieces made from jade... She said that NZ didnt want to deplete this rear natural resource so that the next generation could enjoy it so they import jade... Nah i thought, thats over the top...later i had a thought and maybe that was cool. Really, I dont know wot to think of that. Any how, big milestone for me this week. Found my/our (bros 5 coins) 100th coin at the bulldozed churh site. Yeha. And a badge of obvious vintage proportions. A girl guide badge possibly with GOLD plating...lol. Ah, im so chuffed its awesome. That means to me 25 coins per one find of jewellry there at this dig. I think/we think this is a guide badge. It is brassy with blue enamal. Two fingered salute type hand insignia. Bertram Bros. Melb. on the back. Cant find it on the net. Would apreciate any comments as im keen to document this one,as all finds, properly.
A NZ 1941 Sixpence. .500 silver (aka. All NZ silver coins were .500 silver 1933-1946 then copnick).

The blue enamaled badge may be religious in nature...the classic jesus hand with a dove in the palm???

HH,

Hi there Gopher. Have since found out that its a Brownies (girl guide) Goldenhand badge. 1956. Brass, blue enamal with a bit of gold plate.
Nice finds.
