Killer B Wasps on an E-trac

Relic

New member
I want to use my Killer B Wasps on my E-trac, but the sound through them is very faint. Minelab's FAQ says, "Our audio circuits will drive most headphones from 16 - 100 + ohms."; the Wasps are 150 ohms. I've tried changing the switch settings on the headphones, but it made no difference. I noticed, too, that the plug on the Wasps is a bit shorter than the plug on the Koss.

I know many of you sucessfully use Killer B's, but I'm wondering if any of you had a similar experience. I'd use the Koss headphones, but they have a short in them at the plug.

I have permission on a couple of unhunted cellar holes and I want to get to them before the snow flies and the ground freezes up here in the Great White North!

Thanks,

Relic

I got a pair of new Killer B - Wasps last month - they work great on my E-Trac.

I used my Grey Ghost Ultimates for four year and they are also very good headphones.

Both have their advantages but the Killer B's are now my every day - go to headphones.
The Killer B's are a lot lighter - much easier on and off - they have a longer cord ( I'm 5' 8" and I can actually stand up with the machine still on the ground ) and the B's have a lot more volume adjustment settings.

The Koss UR-30 headphones have a short at the plug with practically zero time on them. Pretty disappointing.

My Wasps have a short in the cord right below the headphone. Pretty sad; I love those headphones, but I've used them about 8 years.

Both are going in for repair and I'm headphone-less. Any suggestions for an inexpensive backup?

Thanks for the replies,fellas.

Relic, I know exactly what you are talking about, I have a pair of Wasps and SunRay Golds. They are exactly the same when it comes to volume. I love the SRG's as far as comfort goes, but do wish they were a little louder. I have learned to live with the volume as they do provide a tremendous amount of outside sound blockage! Good luck!

Does anyone know if the wasps fit a small head well? I've got a small head, like I can never find a hat to fit small. The UR 30s fit, but have to be as tight as they go.
